Eddie Roche is Head Archivist for International Speedway Corp. under the RacingOne division for the last five years, having first worked for the company in the mid-‘70s for Jim Foster in Daytona International Speedway Public Relations. He attended his first race in 1962 at a Central Florida short track. His first trip to the Daytona 500 came in 1970 to see the winged cars compete. His first published article was in 1971 for Chris Economaki’s National Speed Sport News. He was Motor Sports Editor for Scripps-Howard Hollywood (FL) Sun for six years, at the same time branching out to magazine work as Field Editor South for Stock Car Racing Magazine 1973-77. His coverage of auto racing took him to 25 states. He has authored two books on the history of racing in the Sunshine State, entitled Florida Motorsports Retrospective Pictorial (volumes I & II). Roche has been credited with assisting in many other books, including those on the history of American speedways, Sebring, and several on NASCAR. An outside hobby the past two years was in restoring a 1957 Chevrolet Belair, which has already been awarded a couple of car show titles.
